Improving the lives of those we touch. |
Vital Stats Years of experience in healthcare: 19 The "I am EIRMC" philosophy is a wonderful way to: Put in writing the characteristics of the people who work at EIRMC. "I am EIRMC" was created by a group of employees and is a wonderful philosophy of the culture we live here at EIRMC--how we interact with other colleagues, physicians, and foremost, patients and visitors. I am profoundly committed to it. I was deeply moved to have been involved in: The development of our trauma system. In 1999, we invited the American College of Surgeons to conduct a "pre-survey" analysis of our program. At that time, we identified many opportunities to improve. In 2004, after 5 years, we were verified as a trauma center by that distinguished organization. The real reward though, is knowing we improved the likelihood that someone involved in a traumatic accident has a higher chance of survival now than in years past. The recognition by the ACS is a reflection of the patient care delivered and the system now in place. As of today, EIRMC is the only hospital in Idaho with this recognition. As a parent, my buttons popped like crazy when: My children set goals, make good decisions and work hard to achieve their goals. Shauna and I will be entering a new phase this fall -- the empty nest phase. As you can imagine, we have mixed feelings as this next chapter approaches. I'm passionate about what I do at EIRMC because: We have a great opportunity and responsibility to improve and make a difference in every patient's life. As we do this, we make a difference in the lives of their family and friends. I enjoy the movie Apollo 13. During the movie the flight commander says, "Failure is not an option." In healthcare, failure is not an option. I love working with the dedicated, well-trained, compassionate employees at the hospital. We are fortunate to have a wonderful Medical Staff, each one of whom is board eligible or board certified in their specialty. I am fortunate to live in an ideal community and work at a dynamic, inspiring place that takes care of the entire region. Since experience is often the best teacher, I am who I am today because: Experience has been a great teacher to me. Obviously that experience includes my interaction with many people and circumstances over the last 19 years. I hope that today, I am wiser than I was 19 years ago -- as I h ave accumulated those experiences and gained much from those with whom I work. |
